the silver lining you might ask? i have been avoiding all this rubbish (school work) and reading...reading a lot. earlier this month i mentioned my book for march, the lost gardens by anthony eglin. well, it has been read, it has been added to the top of my list, and it has been passed on to my fellow anglophile, mummy! we both thoroughly enjoyed it and would highly recommend it, anglo-obsessed or not. so about this dashing novel... this young american lady, jamie inherits this estate in somerset, having no clue as to how she fits in to this puzzle and why major ryder (deceased, previous owner of the estate) could have known jamie enough to leave the estate to her. she hears of a botanist, lawrence kingston, who would be perfect to help her restore the gardens. together they figure out the mystery behind the house...complete with criminalized french men, skeletons in water well, and hidden passageways once frequented by monks. truly a great read, i would give it five out of five cups of tea (and so would mummy)! here is the author. reminds me of my father, how dashing... find it here! we've already checked out two more of his books from the library :)

so for my book for april i was going to read little bee by chris cleave. i've had it sitting on my desk dying to read it, but i told myself that i was not going to start it until i got home for this holiday. so i got home and i read it and i finished it and it made me want to chuck it out the window. i found it very depressing and extremely graphic, so..scratch that off the list. new book will be: east of the sun by julia gregson. perhaps more uplifting? i do hope so.
47 days and 20 hours from now my bum will be firmly planted on an aisle seat of a double decker plane headed across the pond to wee little island know as great britain. words cannot express my excitement!!!! i guess the best way to discribe it is presenting a 13 year old girl with a season pass to 25 concerts of the tight-pants-wearing jonas brothers. now take that and add on the feeling you get when you find $50 in the parking lot. now take that and add on eating a lifetime supply of cotton candy ice cream. now take that and multiply it by 4,578,936,772,299,987,666. yes, i think that will do. planning is coming along. we have our accommodation all sorted out, here is where we will be staying----
bath
london
rutland water (with a family friend)
we also have a portion of our anglo wardrobe figured out as well. messenger bags, mackintoshes, rather small brollies, and walking shoes that do not make me want to chop off my poor flat feet. coming along..... more updates to follow!
i am looking for a new camera for this trip. any suggestions? i would like to keep it under $200 and i would like to have at least 7x optical zoom, video, and slim but no too small! help me please! greggo has bought this one for me from costco but the memory card is not sd and there is no zoom on the video, no good. but it takes great pictures....
easter is this sunday and i am very very excited because that means i will now be able to eat what i have been abstaining from for the past 40 days. shredded cheddar, yes that is correct. my aunt is making a southern mac and cheese dish and oh man i am going to go overboard, guaranteed!
for now my lovelies, cheers!
p.s. this is what my fortune cookie said today, "when the flowers bloom, so will great joy in your life" :)
